Designed to serve as the pillar for our Cannabis Education Center and SMART Moves programs. This building is an extension of both the Children Center and Teen Center. Cooking classes and demonstrations are held in this center. All cannabis related education and prevention sessions are held in this building.
Cannabis Use Prevention & Education Resource Center
The Health & Wellness Center at the Boys & Girls Club of Palm Springs was built to house wellness programs for club members, including a Cannabis Use Prevention & Education Resource Center– which focuses on providing resources and information to address adolescent cannabis use and its effects on young brains and growing bodies in order to encourage prevention of cannabis use.
Although it remains illegal for minors, with the legalization of cannabis in California, cannabis products have become more accessible and attractive to teens, and; therefore, more resources are needed to educate parents and youth on how early cannabis use points to severe cognitive consequences in young brains – which is why this cannabis use prevention education program has been implemented at the Club.
